In this third thriller to feature Molly Blume, the Orthodox Jewish crime columnist looks into a deeply personal case: the unsolved murder of her best friend. Molly's preparations for her looming wedding are interrupted when a friend at the LAPD brings her a locket containing a Kabbalistic talisman that was found on the body of actor and drug addict Roland Greeley, who has apparently died of an overdose. The locket was a present Molly had given to her dear friend, Aggie Lasher, who was killed six years ago. Molly investigates the circumstances of Greeley's life and death, attempting to find out whether he did, in fact, murder Aggie.

A mysterious woman tries to sell Abby a hideous old vase, and is killed as she exits Abby's shop, The Den of Antiquity. The vase then disappears, and Abby starts to investigate both the theft and the murder. But digging up skeletons buried in the history of the old Rosewood Plantation turns out to be a trespass on family secrets that threatens to get Abby killed.
