Spenser's out for revenge in this addition to the long-running series about the Boston PI. Acting as bodyguard to bookie Luther Gillespie, Spenser's good friend Hawk is shot in the back by the Ukrainian mob, who are making inroads on Boston. When the law fails to provide a remedy for Hawk, he and Spenser take matters into their own hands.
