Did an Orthodox Jewish woman leave her husband willingly, or is there some more sinister reason why she and her three children have vanished? The husband, Mark Rubin, hires Tess Monaghan to investigate in this eighth mystery to feature the Baltimore PI. Although Mr. Rubin is not exactly forthcoming with useful information, Tess quickly picks up the trail of the Rubin family, and learns that they are traveling with a suave-seeming man whose volatile temper could endanger the children.
