Roy Dillon makes his living by using the short con on bartenders, sailors, and hotel clerks. Lily Dillon, his mother, is an errand-girl for an organized crime figure. Moira Langry, Roy's lover, is the ex-wife of a long-con artist. This is the story of what runs in the family, of a con-artist merry-go-round, of people who only have each other but who sell each other out with no compunction. The Grifters was made into a movie starring Angelica Huston, Annette Bening, and John Cusack.
