The author of several comic suspense novels skewering exterminators, organ transplants, and organized religion, among other topics, Bill Fitzhugh mines his former profession--that of disc jockey--for this book, the first of a new series. Rick Shannon, previously a North Dakota DJ, takes a new job as a program director and late-night show host at a rural Mississippi station. The previous director/DJ, Captain Jack Carter, has mysteriously vanished, leaving evidence that he was blackmailing someone. Rick decides to disguise himself as a PI and discover what became of his predecessor.
